Dynamic: Microsoft Teams
A Dynamic: Microsoft Teams drive allows you to map all your Microsoft Teams document libraries to a single drive letter. Similar to a Dynamic: SharePoint drive, this is also a dynamic drive that is easy to implement. All you need to do is to name it and assign it a drive letter.
When you log into your Windows Desktop/VDI, CDM sends a request to Microsoft 365 for a list of all the Teams and channels you are a member of and maps these to your Dynamic: Microsoft Teams drive.
When you map your Microsoft Teams document libraries to a single drive letter via the Dynamic: Microsoft Teams drive, you’ll notice that all the teams you are a member of are at the root of the drive (the highest level of the drive’s directory structure) with folders to represent channels associated with each team. You will also see private teams and channels as long as you are a member of private teams.
CDM caches a list of your Microsoft Teams document libraries mapped to a Dynamic: Microsoft Teams drive. It only does this to avoid overburdening Microsoft services, which can adversely impact the performance of your Microsoft 365 tenancy. By default, CDM refreshes this list every 3 hours, meaning that changes to any of the teams and channels you are a member of will not reflect in your Dynamic: Microsoft Teams drive in real time.
If it is imperative that you see these changes reflected in your Dynamic: Microsoft Teams drive immediately, consider exiting CDM and signing in again. You can change this refresh interval by contacting our support team. However, as mentioned earlier, this may impact the performance of your tenancy.
Suppose you want access to files and folders for a specific Microsoft Teams document library that does not belong to channels. In that case, we recommend using the Direct: SharePoint document library drive to access the Microsoft Teams document library URL you want to see within SharePoint. However, doing so will not show private or shared channels, as these belong to a different site within SharePoint. Additionally, a Direct: SharePoint document library drive will not show any additional document libraries users may’ve added in SharePoint directly. For that, we recommend using the Direct: SharePoint site drive.
Please use the Dynamic: SharePoint drive with the Show Microsoft Teams document libraries check box selected to implement the above criteria for all your Microsoft Teams document libraries. This way, your Microsoft Teams document libraries show in the mapped drive from a SharePoint perspective rather than Microsoft Teams. Dynamic: SharePoint drives also allow you to show only those sites associated with Microsoft Teams document libraries.
