Deploy CDM using the MSI file

When you deploy CDM silently using the MSI file, the MSI installer installs the following runtime components automatically while installing CDM:

  • Minimum requirement: Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime

  • Minimum requirement: Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8

However, you must ensure that Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8 is installed before deploying CDM, as the MSI file can’t install it at the beginning of the installation process due to the way its execution sequence works.

While you can deploy CDM using an application deployment tool of your choice, this section provides information about how to do so through Group Policy (GPO), Command-line Interface (MSIEXEC), and Microsoft Intune.

If your environment is domain-joined, deploy the installer using GPO. For a customized silent rollout, deploy the installer using the Command-line Interface. When deploying to managed cloud devices, use Microsoft Intune. If you choose to deploy the installer using GPO, you must deploy the CDM license key first.

You must ensure that Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8 is installed before deploying CDM, as the MSI file can’t install it at the beginning of the installation process due to the way its execution sequence works. You can’t deploy CDM using the MSI file successfully without first installing Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8.
