Pre-deployment checklist
Before deploying CDM (V3), please ensure you’ve got all the essentials covered. The following list outlines the key items for you to consider:
System requirements
Ensure your environment meets CDM’s minimum software, hardware, and operating system requirements for optimal performance and compatibility. For an up-to-date list of CDM prerequisites, see Prerequisites and compatibility.
List of trusted URLs
You’ll need to add some URLs to your trusted list to avoid CDM’s traffic to Microsoft 365 or Bifrost (the IAM Cloud API) from being blocked. This is especially relevant when:
-
Your organization uses firewalls, proxies, or web filters.
-
Your Microsoft 365 organization is based in a US Government Community Cloud (GCC), GCC High, or DoD.
-
Your Microsoft 365 organization is based in Germany or China.
-
Your Microsoft 365 organization is multi-geo-enabled.
For a complete list of URLs to add to your trusted list, see Prerequisites and compatibility.
Exclusion policy
If your organization uses security software, you must add specific paths to your exclusion policy.
For a complete list of paths to add to your exclusion policy, see Prerequisites and compatibility.
Tenant-level Microsoft 365 integration
Get your Entra admin to approve CDM’s integration with your Microsoft 365 tenancy. If you have Entra admin permissions, click here and follow the steps. If you don’t have Entra admin permissions and work in a large organization, request admin approval promptly. For step-by-step instructions, see Grant admin consent to CDM.
Mapping configurations
Before you deploy, check that you’ve completed your mapping configurations in Iris by adding more drives or changing the configuration of your existing drives. Optionally, create and deploy custom mapping groups and policies.
For more information about drive configuration, mapping groups, and supported drive types, see Using CDM to map drives.
License key
Copy your license key from the CDM Dashboard in Iris. For more information, see CDM Dashboard.
Environment-specific client installer
Download the installer ideal for your scenario, or scenarios plural if you have a mixed environment. We’ve provided you with an executable, Windows Installer, and an intunewin package on the Downloads page in Iris.
-
Download the MSI file for automated or silent deployments. It also works well with other proprietary application deployment systems.
-
Download the intunewin file to deploy CDM to devices managed by Microsoft Intune
-
Download the EXE file for standalone computers, VDI, and server deployments. The EXE installer includes additional VDI-specific controls that could be helpful.
For more information about deployment scenarios and step-by-step guidance on employing the method that suits your environment, see Deploy CDM.
You can uninstall CDM Legacy (v2.x) while installing or upgrading CDM (V3) through the Command-line Interface (msiexec) or the EXE standalone installer. For more information, see Deploy CDM via Command-line Interface (msiexec) and Install CDM on a standalone computer.
