Getting started
We’ve prepared a series of videos to help you navigate your CDM experience. The following video walks you through the essential steps for configuring CDM and installing the client.
Configuring your first drive
As soon as you've signed in to Iris, the first logical step would be to configure your first drive. Your trial license supports all available drive types and CDM's features and, by default, has a 10,000-user limit.
Once you've mapped your first drive, Iris will redirect you to the CDM Dashboard. You can configure additional drives and create mapping groups and policies from here. The dashboard also displays the CDM license key associated with your tenancy, including its status and expiry date, along with insights into CDM's real-time usage by your tenancy.
Downloading the client installer
The Downloads page in Iris provides you with three types of client installers: EXE, MSI, and Intunewin. Download the executable file since you are setting up a CDM trial on your computer.
Granting admin consent to CDM
Once you've downloaded the executable file and before installing CDM on your computer, you'll need to add and approve the CDM client's integration with your Microsoft 365 tenancy. For more information, see Granting admin consent to Cloud Drive Mapper (CDM), or if you already have Entra admin permissions, click here and follow the steps.
You can install CDM on your computer without following this step, as CDM can run with user permissions instead. Doing so might be best if you work in a large organization where getting Entra admin approval can take some time. However, since not all of CDM's more advanced capabilities are possible with just user permissions, it's best to start the process of attaining admin approval for our integration in the long run.
Installing CDM on your computer
You're now ready to install. Double-click the executable file and follow the steps in the setup wizard. When the installer prompts you for your license key, copy it from the dashboard in Iris and paste it into the license key field in the setup wizard.
Once you've installed CDM, launch it to complete the setup. Provided you've met all the prerequisites, CDM should be able to map your drives successfully, and you should be able to begin your trial.
